Mimulus aurantiacus, the sticky monkey-flower or orange bush monkey-flower, is a flowering plant that grows in a subshrub form, native to southwestern North America from Oregon to California.It is a member of the lopseed family, Phrymaceae, or, alternately, the Scrophulariaceae. Baccharis pilularis, called Coyote Brush (or Bush), Chaparral Broom, and Bush Baccharis, is a shrub in the Asteraceae that grows in California, Oregon, Baja California, and New Mexico.

Arctostaphylos glauca is a species of manzanita known by the common name bigberry manzanita. The American River Parkway has over a dozen access points. The trail is a popular bicycle route. The peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), also known as the peregrine and historically as the duck hawk in North America, is a widespread bird of prey in the family Falconidae. Salvia mellifera (Black sage) is a small, highly aromatic, evergreen shrub of the genus Salvia (the sages) native to California, and Baja California, Mexico.
